Learning About Healthy Teeth at Early Foundation Childcare

On 22 May, children at Early Foundation Childcare enjoyed a special dental health visit focused on caring for their growing teeth and developing positive oral-hygiene habits.

Layana, a dental professional from Hanson Medical Centre, visited our Craigieburn childcare centre to speak with the children about why healthy teeth are important.

During the session, children learned about:

• Brushing their teeth twice each day
• Using toothpaste correctly
• The role of flossing
• Choosing foods that support healthy teeth
• Limiting sugary foods and drinks
• Visiting the dentist regularly

The children also explored the correct way to brush their teeth and participated in age- appropriate conversations about keeping their smiles clean and healthy.

Health and wellbeing experiences like this help children become more confident, independent and aware of how they can care for their own bodies. They also allow educators to reinforce important everyday routines through practical and engaging learning.

At Early Foundation Childcare Craigieburn, incursions and community visits form part of our broader early learning program, helping children connect classroom learning with real-life experiences.
