At Early Foundation Childcare Craigieburn, we believe emotional wellbeing is an important part of creating a safe, supportive and connected early learning environment.

For R U OK? Day, our educators and children took part in activities and conversations designed to encourage kindness, connection and checking in with one another.

Talking About Feelings With Our Kinder Children

Our kindergarten children explored the idea of happiness through a creative activity where they drew and painted happy faces.

This gave educators an opportunity to talk with the children about emotions, how we feel, and the importance of noticing when someone around us may need support, comfort or a kind word.

For young children, emotional learning often begins with simple conversations — recognising feelings, expressing them and learning how to respond to the emotions of others.

Checking In With Our Educators Too

R U OK? Day was also an opportunity for our educators to check in with one another.

Working in early childhood education is incredibly rewarding, but it can also be busy and demanding. Taking a moment to ask a colleague how they are feeling and genuinely listen can make a meaningful difference.

Our team spent time connecting, talking and reflecting on the importance of supporting one another both professionally and personally.

A Sweet Surprise From Our Chef

To make the day even more special, our chef prepared cupcakes for the team and children, decorated especially for R U OK? Day.

It was a simple but thoughtful way to bring everyone together and create another moment of connection across the centre.
